Originally from Delhi and now based in Mumbai, India, Aashray began his journey with an award-winning student documentary while studying journalism. He cut his teeth at A Little Anarky Films, rising from intern to in-house cinematographer and producer on projects for BBC, National Geographic, and fashion-led commercial campaigns.

Since going independent, he’s shot an ARRI-sponsored series celebrating Indian cinematographers, and built a diverse portfolio spanning 40+ commercials, long-form documentaries, travel and food shows, and festival-circuit shorts. His recent collaborations include campaigns for Vogue, Facebook, and Nikon and editorial interviews for The Hollywood Reporter India.

He’s currently prepping for his debut narrative feature while continuing to explore bold, character-driven stories and unconventional formats.

With a versatile, story-first approach, he aims to be a cinematographer who adapts instinctively to each director’s vision.
